Indian e-Visa
Also called: India e-Visa, electronic visa for India
An Indian e-Visa is an electronic visa for India that is applied for and granted online, with no visa centre visit. The main categories are the e-Tourist visa (30-day, 1-year or 5-year), the e-Business visa and the e-Medical visa, each with its own validity and entry rules. Eligible passports are listed by the Government of India; where an e-Visa is not suitable, a paper visa is applied for through VFS.
Who needs it
Foreign passport holders visiting India for tourism, business meetings or medical treatment who do not hold an OCI card. OCI holders do not need a visa. An e-Visa covers short visits, not employment in India. Before landing, e-Visa holders also complete the India e-Arrival Card, inside the 72 hours before arrival. Each e-Visa is per applicant, and the stay allowed on each visit is set by the grant, so a longer validity does not mean one long stay.
