Birth certificate and apostille — check before you start
At the Fresh OCI stage of the bundle, one document question comes up frequently:
- Birth certificate: applicants born in India generally use it as it is. If you were born outside India, it may need to be apostilled in the country of birth. If you were born in the UK, our team will guide you on where to obtain the correct apostille or attestation accepted by the High Commission. Any apostille or attestation cost is paid by the applicant — our fee covers file preparation and guidance only. Where a notarised document or affidavit is needed, we provide the template; the notarisation is arranged by the applicant.

The £199 Matrix service fee covers preparation of both the surrender and the Fresh OCI applications, VFS booking, and tracking. VFS and Indian government fees (including the OCI fee and any late-surrender fee) are paid separately.

These VFS / government fees are indicative, and the delivery envelope is already included in them — your document is returned to your address at no extra charge. Your final amount may be higher if VFS charges for optional extras on the day, such as photocopying, document printing, a photo, or SMS updates. The exact total is confirmed by VFS Global at submission.
These figures are illustrative and based on the current VFS schedule (including applicable taxes). Current fees apply on the day of submission and are paid directly to VFS Global — separately from the Matrix service fee.

What does the £199 bundle include?
It covers Matrix preparation of BOTH the surrender / renunciation certificate application and the Fresh OCI application, plus VFS booking and tracking. Government and VFS fees are paid separately.

Why bundle surrender and OCI together?
