OCI updates & e-OCI — your questions answered

I've renewed my passport — what do I need to do with my OCI?
Your OCI record needs your new passport details. This is now handled fully online — no VFS appointment, no visit, nothing to post. Our Passport Details Update (£125) covers preparation, verification, online submission and your e-OCI card included.
Does it matter if my passport was renewed within 90 days or after?
The process and our fee are the same either way — £125 with your e-OCI included. The only difference: if the update is made more than 90 days (3 months) after your new passport was issued, the Government of India may charge an additional fee (approximately US$20–25, at current rates), payable separately. We confirm this for your case before submission.
My OCI card shows my old passport number — can I still travel?
Airlines and immigration check that your OCI details match your current passport, so travelling on an unmatched record can cause problems at check-in. We recommend updating before you travel — once processed, your e-OCI reflects your current passport details and sits on your phone as proof.
My OCI card is lost or damaged — do I need a new booklet?
No booklet chase — everything is online now. If your OCI is linked with your current passport, the £50 e-OCI service puts an official, QR-verified copy on your phone. If it isn't linked, our £125 Passport Details Update sorts your record and includes the e-OCI in one go.
What exactly is the e-OCI?
An official digital version of your OCI card, generated from your OCI record on the official Government of India system. It's a QR-verified PDF saved on your phone, and can be presented at immigration check posts and to airlines. Your physical OCI card remains valid alongside it.
My name or other details have changed (marriage, name change, nationality) — what's the route?
Changes of particulars are also handled through the online OCI update route. Requirements vary by case — WhatsApp us what's changed and we'll confirm the exact documents, route and fee for your situation before you pay anything.
My OCI was issued when I was a child — I'm now 20+ with my first adult passport. Anything different?
A one-time re-issue generally applies after your first new passport once you turn 20. The current process for this is best confirmed case by case — send us your details on WhatsApp and we'll set out your exact route and fees before you start.
I'm over 50 — do I need a new OCI booklet after renewing my passport?
No. There's no re-issue requirement linked to turning 50 — your record is simply updated online with your new passport details, and your e-OCI is generated from the updated record.
Do I need a VFS appointment for any of this?
No. Passport details updates, e-OCI generation and delivery are all handled online — no appointment, no biometrics visit for these services, nothing to post.
How long does it take?
If your OCI is already linked with your current passport, your e-OCI is delivered generally within 24 hours of order confirmation. If your record needs updating first, we submit promptly and generate your e-OCI as soon as the update is processed on the official system — we give you a realistic expectation when you start.
What documents will you need from me?
Generally a copy of your current passport, your OCI card (or just your OCI number if the card is lost), and a recent photograph — which we prepare to the current specification for you. You receive the exact checklist right after ordering.
What happens to my OCI account login details?
We prefer account recovery through your own email — you simply forward the one-time code. Any login details are used once to complete your update and generate your e-OCI, and are never stored.
My spouse holds OCI through marriage — is the update different?
Spouse-based OCI holders update online too, with a marriage declaration and the Indian spouse's documents alongside the new passport details. We prepare the full pack — send us your details and we'll confirm your checklist.
Are government fees included in the £125?
Our £125 covers the complete service — preparation, verification, submission and your e-OCI. Government fees, where applicable (such as the late-update fee of approximately US$20–25 past 90 days), are at current rates and payable separately. We tell you exactly what applies to your case before submission.
