OCI fee calculator 2026

What you pay for an OCI in the UK depends on what you need. A new passport, a first OCI, a lost or damaged card and a name change each follow a different route, with a different government fee and a different service fee from us. This free calculator asks a few short questions, then shows your route, the government and VFS fee and our fee for your household, updating as you choose. There is no signup and nothing to download.

The 90-day rule matters most. Within 90 days of a new passport, an OCI Link is completed online with no government fee. Past 90 days, a late-update penalty normally applies, and the Government of India has waived it for updates received by 31 December 2026. Figures come from our 2026 VFS fee table, and the fee on the day applies, so confirm your total before you pay.

OCI fees in the UK in 2026

Each OCI route has two parts: any government and VFS fee, and our service fee. The table shows both per applicant. The government and VFS amounts come from our 2026 VFS fee table, and the fee on the day of submission applies.

Each person has their own application, so fees apply per applicant. A family of four linking new passports within 90 days pays us £400, with no government fee.

The 90-day rule

The 90 days run from the issue date of your new passport. Within that window, a passport-number change is an OCI Link: completed online, with no visa centre visit and no government fee. It is best to link as soon as the new passport arrives, rather than waiting for the deadline.

Past 90 days, a new passport goes through the OCI Passport Details Update, even for a simple passport-number change. Our fee is £125 with your e-OCI included. Where only the passport or address is changing, it is completed online, whichever UK mission issued your OCI. Your OCI is not cancelled: it is updated with your new passport.

A late-update penalty normally applies at this point. The Government of India has announced a one-time waiver of that penalty for OCI passport-particulars updates received from 1 November to 31 December 2026. It applies to all OCI cards, whichever Indian mission issued it. See how the waiver works.

Your first OCI

A Fresh OCI is for a first application. VFS collects £247.78 per applicant at your appointment: the £215 new OCI card fee, £3 ICWF and the £29.78 VFS service fee. Our £125 is separate. If you held an Indian passport and became a British citizen, read surrender before OCI first, because that step comes before the application.

Lost or damaged OCI card

The route depends on whether your OCI is already linked to your current passport. If it is, the £50 e-OCI replaces the card: an official digital copy, with no VFS visit and no separate government fee. If it is not yet linked, the case is the OCI Passport Details Update at £125, e-OCI included, and the 90-day rule above applies. A police report may be requested for a lost card.

The e-OCI is a digital copy of your OCI for your phone, with QR verification. It is included in the OCI Passport Details Update, and it can be added to OCI Link or Fresh OCI. See e-OCI card download for how it works.

Name or other details

A name, date of birth, nationality or appearance change within 90 days of a new passport goes through the OCI Passport Details Update at £125, e-OCI included. It is completed online, with no visa centre visit. Past 90 days, or where your passport has not changed, the position is different. Where your name, nationality, date of birth or other particulars are changing, we confirm the route and any fees for your case before you pay. The calculator shows no price and no Pay now for those cases. Send us your passport and OCI details on WhatsApp, and we tell you the route, the government fee and our fee before anything is paid.

What the calculator leaves out

  • OCI through a spouse, which is submitted at the High Commission by invitation. Our fee is £150, and the £218 government fee is paid to the High Commission.
  • The e-OCI add-on, which is £25 more on OCI Link and Fresh OCI.
  • Optional VFS extras on the day, such as photocopying, document printing, a photo or SMS updates.
  • Your photo. An OCI photo is 51 × 51 mm. Our photo size checker covers the shape.

What Matrix Solutions adds

Our fee covers the document check, photo and signature formatting, the online application and upload, and updates on WhatsApp. We confirm your route before you pay, and the final decision sits with the relevant authority. See OCI services for the full list.
