UK passport renewal fee calculator 2026
The cost of renewing a UK passport depends on four things: the applicant's age, whether you apply online or on a paper form, how many pages you choose and how quickly you need it. This free calculator works out the HM Passport Office (HMPO) fee for your household in seconds. Set the number of adults and children, pick a service and a passport size, and the total updates as you go. There is no signup and nothing to download.
Next to the government fee you will see what the same renewal costs through Matrix Solutions, where our prices include preparation and the HMPO fee: £180 Standard or £300 Fast Track for an adult or a child, and £350 Premium for an adult, where eligible. Fees come from GOV.UK and apply to applications made in the UK. HMPO sets its own fees, service standards and decisions, so use this page as a guide and check the final figure before you pay.

UK passport fees in 2026
HM Passport Office charges a set fee for each passport. An adult passport is for anyone aged 16 or over, or turning 16 in the next 3 weeks, and a child passport is for anyone under 16. The standard service is the lowest-cost way to renew, and applying online costs less than the paper form.
| Passport | Online | Paper form |
|---|---|---|
| Adult, 34 pages | £102 | £115.50 |
| Adult, 54 pages | £116 | £129.50 |
| Child, 34 pages | £66.50 | £80 |
| Child, 54 pages | £80.50 | £94 |
Online or paper form: which costs less?
Online is the lower fee on all four standard passport types. The paper form adds £13.50 to each passport, so a family of two adults and two children saves £54 by applying online. Paper applications can go through the Post Office Check and Send service for an extra charge. GOV.UK does not give that amount on its fees page, so the calculator leaves it out. Ask at the counter before you pay.
34-page or 54-page passport
The standard passport has 34 pages. The 54-page frequent traveller passport costs £14 more on the standard, Fast Track and Premium services alike. It suits people who collect a lot of entry stamps, such as regular business travellers. If you only travel a few times a year, the 34-page passport is usually enough.
1 week Fast Track and 1 day Premium
If the standard service will take too long, GOV.UK offers two urgent services. Both are applied for online and both need an appointment at a passport office, so the paper form fee does not apply to them.
1 week Fast Track costs £192 for an adult or £156.50 for a child. The earliest appointment is the day after you apply, and the new passport comes by courier 1 week after the appointment. It covers renewals, changes of personal details, lost, stolen or damaged passports, and child passports.
1 day Premium costs £239.50 and is for adult renewals only. The earliest appointment is 2 days after you apply, and you collect the new passport from the passport office 4 hours after your appointment.
| Passport | Fast Track | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Adult, 34 pages | £192 | £239.50 |
| Adult, 54 pages | £206 | £253.50 |
| Child, 34 pages | £156.50 | Not available |
| Child, 54 pages | £170.50 | Not available |
Neither service is open to first adult passports or to people outside the UK. Appointments can be booked up to 3 weeks ahead. Cancelling less than 48 hours before your appointment costs a £34.50 admin fee, and a missed appointment is not refunded, so choose a date you can keep.
What the calculator leaves out
- Photos. A printed UK passport photo is 35 × 45 mm, and a digital photo code is preferred. Our photo size checker covers the shape.
- The Post Office Check and Send charge, where you use it.
- Secure return of supporting documents, which usually costs an extra £5. Normal second class return is free.
- Applications made from outside the UK, which carry a different fee.
- People born on or before 2 September 1929, whose standard passport is free. Urgent and 54-page passports are still charged.
GOV.UK does not refund the fee if you cancel your application or are not entitled to a passport, so check your documents before you pay.
What Matrix Solutions adds
Many people renew on their own, and the HMPO online service is built for that. Clients come to us when they want a second pair of eyes on the application. We prepare and submit it, format your photo to the current specification, check your supporting documents and track the case until your passport is dispatched. On Fast Track and Premium we also book your appointment. The HMPO fee sits inside our price: £180 Standard, £300 Fast Track or £350 Premium, where eligible, and we confirm this in writing. There is no extra fee on the day.
A 54-page passport adds £14 on any tier, and a paper application adds £13.50 on Standard. A child is the same price as an adult on Standard and Fast Track, and Premium is not available for children. First adult passports and lost or damaged passports sit outside these prices, and we quote those on WhatsApp before you pay anything. The decision on your passport sits with HMPO. See UK passport renewal for the full service.
If you hold an OCI, plan the next step too. A new passport generally needs linking to your OCI, and OCI Link (£100) covers a straightforward new-passport link, online within the 90-day window.
