Can US citizens get an Indian e-Visa?

Yes — US passports are on the official Government of India e-Visa list. On a US passport you can apply for the 30-day, 1-year and 5-year e-Tourist, the e-Business and the e-Medical visa.

How much does it cost?

Our fee is all-inclusive — the government fee is included, nothing to pay separately: £125 for the 30-day e-Tourist, £150 for the 1-year e-Tourist, £550 for the 5-year e-Tourist, £350 for the e-Business, £250 for the e-Medical. You can pay in US$ at checkout.

How early should I apply?

The official rule: “For e-Tourist and e-Business visa, Applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival. For e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant, Applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days.” At least 98% of the e-Visas we filed were approved within 12 hours — the longest took 72 hours.

Can I enter at any airport?

No. e-Visa holders arrive at one of the designated airports or seaports named on the official e-Visa site. For leaving, the official site says: “You may depart from any of the Indian Immigration Check Posts (ICPs).”

Is the e-Visa multiple entry?

Yes, for each category here. The official site prints “Multiple Entry, non-extendable and non-convertible” for the 30-day e-Tourist and “Multiple” for the others.

“Not available to individuals endorsed on Parent's/Spouse's Passport i.e. each individual should have a separate passport.”
“Not available to International Travel Document Holders other than Passport.”
“If you have a defence/military/security/police background(serving/retired) or hold an official/diplomatic passport, please note that you are not eligible for e-Visa for India.”
“International Travellers having Pakistani Passport or Pakistani origin may please apply for regular Visa at Indian Mission.”
“Foreigners who are not Pakistani nationals, but whose parents or grandparents (either paternal or maternal) was born in, or was permanently resident in Pakistan, are also not eligible for e-Visa.”
