You cannot apply for Aadhaar from the UK or anywhere outside India — the enrolment process needs your physical presence in India for biometric verification. Enrolment involves capturing biometric data (fingerprints and an iris scan), which is done in person at an authorised centre. NRIs and OCI cardholders can enrol at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra during their stay in India, completing registration and biometric verification in person.

- Yes, both NRIs and OCI cardholders are generally eligible under the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Amendment Regulations, 2024, provided they meet certain criteria.
- The rules simplified enrolment with specific forms and valid Indian government-issued identity proof for financial transactions in India. NRIs generally use their valid Indian passport for enrolment; OCIs generally need to stay in India for at least 182 days in a calendar year to qualify.
- Aadhaar is generally not required for NRIs, but it may be needed for financial transactions in India. For OCIs it is optional, depending on need and eligibility.
